Let’s be determined

Have you ever seen determination? I have. In my backyard.
When I observe the squirrels in my yard, I’m often speechless. We have a little war going on, the squirrels and I. I put up these bird feeders, secure them against critters, because the food is for birds, not for squirrels. They just don’t understand that. They think it’s a challenge I provide, for their entertainment:

Who is the first to crack the thing? Gets to the food? Or better, can steal the whole bird feeder?

There, I see incredible determination. They try, they fall off, they try something else, they fall off again – they try until they finally get to the food.
I just hung up my 10th bird feeder in the last couple of months. Can you believe that?
They get to the food! Always.

That’s exactly the determination we need for our own problems, but also for our world’s problems. Production of low or no emission, self-driving cars, pressing health problems, deadly diseases, world hunger, living together in peace, conquer terrorism and so on … all overwhelming problems.
And often our own personal problems seem equally overwhelming for us.
We have to try, and when we fall, we try again. And don’t think about failure or fear. That only diminishes our chances to get somewhere.

With the challenges we face we need to be daring explorers, curious discoverers, courageous thinker, successful team workers – fearless people who specialize in the impossible.
Let’s be determined.
