Like a whirlwind…

This was a really long summer break 🙂
No, actually these were some whirlwind-like couple of months.
First my daughter graduated and started her first job at Brookfield Zoo.
In August she started her freshman year in Colorado. Then, my husband got a new job and we moved to Colorado, too.
All this happened really fast and we had to search for a new place to stay, prep the house in Chicago to be sold and find a new permanent place in Colorado.
I am still trying to catch my breath 🙂

But before my husband and I drove Sarah to college in August, we attended ClickCon2019, a wonderful photography convention in Chicago. It was the first time this happened and it was just amazing. We were about 1,000 photographers and 100 models, meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Downtown Chicago, with access to Grant Park, Formal Gardens and really all over Chicago for outdoor shooting. Every day offered dozens of workshops (from children’s and senior portraits, night photography, dancer photography, wedding photography, to lots of photography business advice) and access to a big trade show with shooting booths. The shooting booths ranged from fashion photography to Maria Antoinette inspired booths, to a Steam Punk themed scene and a “zombie research facility”. There was even a carnival themed party one evening. Additionally, we had the opportunity to “rent” models and try out lots of fun new equipment.

This photo convention gave my photography skills a big push, and elevated my skills and my confidence. I didn’t think I could learn so much in just 2 days. But the teachers were top notch and the photo opportunities were plentiful.

Here are some of the pictures I took:

This week, I found out that the organizers chose one of my pictures to be an advertisement poster for next year’s ClickCon. I am so honored that it was picked and that this poster will now hang in the Dodd Camera Stores, who sponsor next year’s convention. Here is the poster:

I hope you like the selections of photos I display here. And maybe I even inspired you to join ClickCon2020, next August in Chicago… I would highly recommend it.
What do you do to hone your skills? Give me some ideas in the comments, please…

Live Inspired and Keep Shooting!
