Souvenirs…

It was a bit quiet on my website this summer, mainly because I had a fun filled time… filled with great experiences, amazing vacations, exciting camps, city and museum trips, a leadership summit, and visitors from Germany and Connecticut… and while busy it sure was awesome.

This months I want to share some of the pictures I took while we were on our family vacation in California.

There is this saying,

“Leave nothing but footprints, and take nothing but pictures.”

of course that speaks to my photographer’s heart, and so that’s what I did, a lot. Over 1,000 🙂

We spent the first part of our time in San Francisco marveling at the ocean, the other part in the Sierra Nevada Mountains enjoying Lake Tahoe.

Surprise, Surprise …

Shawnee National Forest, Illinois

Illinois is known to be pretty flat.
In the years we have lived here we got kind of used to it. Prairies, rivers, and sometimes forests are mostly the landscape around here. No mountains or even hills. In fact, the only hill in the area is a garbage hill, a huge landfill full of old trash, overgrown with grass. I mean, you wouldn’t guess it if you wouldn’t know, you can even go up there and have a nice view but it is still just filled with trash.

But, if you think that all of Illinois is flat you would be mistaken…
